Modern youth reveal excitement regarding electric mobility
Nissan Formula E survey reveals that youngsters are excited by the future of electric mobility
A new study conducted by the Nissan Formula E Team alongside OnePoll has revealed that young people desire a future featuring electric mobility. The survey was conducted among 6 000 participants aged between 8 and 16 living in Brazil, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK and the USA.
The results dovetail perfectly with the Nissan Formula E Team’s latest marketing campaign, ‘Department of Futures’. The playful video depicts a group of 7 -10-year-olds challenging team drivers Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz, as well as team principal Tommaso Volpe, on the future of electric vehicles.
More than half of the survey’s recipients responded that they want to drive electric cars to help save the environment while 68% claimed that they consider the fighting of climate change as important. These findings are well represented in the squad’s creative content, which shows the next generation holding key Nissan Formula E Team members to account, ensuring the marque keeps its promises. Those targets include Nissan’s Ambition 2030 pledge as well as the introduction of 27 new electrified vehicles by the end of the decade.
The campaign also aims to showcase that Nissan is committed to its goals which include ensuring that young people have access to the electrified future that they desire.
Almost half of the respondents were confused by the true meaning of being eco-friendly and only 30% said that they are currently kind to the environment. This highlighted the fact that Nissan also has a responsibility as a pioneer in electrification to educate the next generation, as they lead the way in developing electric technologies through the Formula E program.
“We realise the importance of providing the next generation with the tools required to continue fighting climate change through electric mobility. The survey proves the desire of young people to look after the environment through their choice of vehicles, which initiatives like the Nissan Formula E Team are key in developing. The members of the ‘Department of Futures’ know their stuff when it comes to electrification and it is our goal to make sure that we can help them enjoy a greener, better future,” says Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team.
