Motus Nissan East Rand Mall goes from strength to strength

Motus Nissan attributes family environment to ongoing success

Motus Nissan East Rand Mall is a well-established dealership that has been operating on the same site for 23 years now and has continued to go from strength to strength. The facility retails new and used Nissan vehicles while also providing the required after sales service in the form of parts and service.

“Our new car showroom can display eight vehicles, but we always have 45-50 new vehicles in stock as well as in excess of 50 pre-owned vehicles. Our staff compliment of 44 people includes two of the best F&I representatives in the province and our workshop has the capacity to look after 30 cars a day,” says Dealer Principal, Debbie Smith.

“During COVID we were fortunate in that we were able to continue to operate and service emergency vehicles and this has been beneficial as the dealership actually excelled following the pandemic,” says Smith.

“This was possible by remaining positive, even in tough times. We also have a very strong staff compliment that are loyal to the brand and have been with the brand for a long time. They understand what needs to be done,” adds Smith.

“The working environment is akin to that of a family, as we have really tried to create a family environment. When customers walk in, they feel this happy, good vibe and it puts them at ease. All staff are customer orientated, positive and we all respect each other, which is critical for a good working environment,” explains Smith.

Motus Nissan East Rand Mall have also been proactive in terms of advertising and marketing in their surrounding area as they aim to make the local area their own.

“We are very proactive in monitoring leads, calls and complaints and always try and sort out any issues as soon as possible,” adds Smith.

Testament to this winning recipe is the fact that Motus Nissan East Rand Mall was the 2021 Service CSI and used car dealer of the year, the 2022 Navara and used car dealer of the year and they achieved third place in fleet sales.

“The pre-owned vehicle market has been challenging in recent years with stock shortages and a number of new players in the market. Fortunately, we have been able to remain competitive by monitoring pricing on a daily basis and adjusting when necessary. We also buy good stock, such as demo vehicles from Nissan SA. All pre-owned vehicles are treated to 160-point checks, valeted and put back for sale as soon as possible,” explains Smith.

“Being part of Motus, which is SA’s largest dealer group, offers many advantages including financial back up and an exceptional name in the industry. The way that head office treats people aligns with our own values and goals which makes for a pleasant working environment. It is a professional organisation throughout where the goals are clear and everyone knows what needs to be done in order to remain successful,” concludes Smith.
