Nissan opens state of the art SSS facility in Senegal
US$ 9.5 million invested in new Senegalese sales, service and spare parts facility
Nissan have opened a brand-new sales, service and spares centre in the Senegalese capital of Dakar.
The facility was officially opened by Nissan Independent Markets Africa Managing Director Maciej Klenkiewicz and Japan Motors Trading Company Managing Director Salem Kalmoni.
The investment of US$ 9.5 million is the culmination of an almost three-year journey and a fitting testimony to Nissan’s ongoing commitment to Africa and West Africa in particular.
“We pride ourselves in the partners that we work with, and we have enjoyed a
particularly long and fruitful relationship with Japan Motors, of more than five decades, which is the longest standing Nissan dealership in Africa,” said Klenkiewicz.
“Japan Motors have proven themselves and their commitment to us and the markets
they serve many times over, and the opening of this new centre in the wake of their new assembly plant in Ghana, speaks volumes about exactly that,” adds Klenkiewicz.
Senegal has become as important a West African vehicle market as Ghana itself, where Japan Motors built a state-of-the-art Greenfields automotive factory to assemble the all-new Nissan Navara bakkie range, which is built in South Africa.
“This centre, the one and only of its kind outside of South Africa and North Africa, is proof of that belief and our commitment,” said Kalmoni.
The new centre will be staffed by 48 employees including technicians and salespeople and is the first fully integrated facility that is fully compliant to the Nissan Retail Concept NEXT Global Dealer facility in sub-Saharan Africa.
The workshop covers 663 square metres and includes 20 bays and two truck pits with combined parking for 100 vehicles. Another unique feature is the special vehicle elevator that had to be installed, to move vehicles from the ground floor to the various parking levels above.
The new centre is also a key part of the company’s strategy to return the Nissan brand in Senegal to its pre COVID-19 levels, when the brand was a top three performer in the country.
The new centre creates a one stop shop, offering an exceptional customer experience, which saves customers time while allowing them to relax in comfort while their vehicles are being serviced to world class standards using the best parts.
